Convenience Store Counters, 2016, Colour inkjet photographs

The convenience store counter represents for me a paradox. Not only is it a place for communal exchange, but it is also a barrier in which distance further manifests. How might immigrant peoples cross these kinds of barriers of difference both imaginary and real? I am interested in what's behind the surface. Beyond the trompe l'oeil of difference.
